AFL Presents Gift of $8,000 to Cancer Support Community

AFL recently presented a gift of $8,000 to the Cancer Support Community, an international nonprofit dedicated to providing support, education and hope to people affected by cancer. As part of AFL’s new “Volunteers Choose” program, AFL associates that participated in volunteer programs during the last fiscal year were given the opportunity to vote on the nonprofit of their choice to receive the gift.

Diane Perlmutter, board member for Cancer Support Community (CSC) and local advocate, visited AFL in August to accept the check and to provide an overview of Cancer Support Community and its impact internationally.

“Our volunteers know they can make a difference – at home and abroad,” said Corie Culp, community relations manager at AFL. “So many lives are touched by cancer and that is why our volunteer associates made the decision to make a difference with Cancer Support Community’s programs.”

Last year, AFL adopted cancer initiatives as a cause to support across the company’s locations around the world. In October AFL will support The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Light The Night® Walk that funds lifesaving research and support for people battling cancer. Many other cancer-related initiatives are underway.
