Satoru Ogawa is vice chairman for AFL. He has served in this capacity since mid-2016. As vice chairman, Ogawa oversees all business functions for AFL and its various manufacturing facilities and sales initiatives around the world.

Ogawa comes to AFL with decades of experience in the telecommunications industry. His career began in the research and development department at Fujikura, Ltd. in Tokyo, Japan, where he worked on developing manufacturing capabilities and methods.

Over the course of the next 30 years, Ogawa was promoted and transferred to multiple divisions within Fujikura as well as one division of Suzuki Giken Co., Ltd. He was a production engineer in the optical fiber cable manufacturing engineering division for Fujikura, assistant plant manager for Alcoa Fujikura, Ltd. (now AFL) in the U.S., section manager of engineering in fiber optics components for Fujikura, general manager of engineering for Suzuki Giken, general manager in fiber optics components for Fujikura, general director of fiber optics for Fujikura in Vietnam, and general manager of fiber optics components for Fujikura.

Ogawa graduated from Saitama University in Japan where he received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. In South Carolina, Ogawa is actively involved in the Japan America Association of South Carolina.
