Steve Althoff is executive vice president leading a wide variety of functions at AFL. Steve oversees two of AFL’s product lines, Test and Inspection (NOYES) and Fusion Splicing Systems, as well as The Light Brigade®, AFL’s fiber optic training company. In addition, Steve directs customer service and marketing, along with sales for the telco/broadband, OEM/photonics and enterprise markets. He has served in this capacity since 2004.
During Steve’s tenure as executive vice president, AFL has maintained a dominant market position for Fujikura splicers and accessories in North America. He has worked hand-in-hand with Fujikura’s Research and Development team to launch new products that are truly differentiators in the market. AFL’s Test and Inspection division has also grown considerably both in terms of global sales and product development under Steve’s leadership.
In concert with AFL’s aggressive growth strategy, Steve was engaged in the purchase of The Light Brigade, the world's leading fiber optic training company, which has positively contributed to AFL’s vision to offer our customers turnkey solutions. In the sales and marketing arena, Steve has driven a more disciplined and strategic approach to marketing AFL’s solutions resulting in impressive year-over-year results
Since joining the company in 1991, Steve has rapidly progressed through a series of roles and has successfully worked directly with most of AFL’s diverse product lines. He began his career in sales, marketing Fujikura splicer and connectivity products first to the telecommunications and cable TV industries, and then for the electric utility market. From sales, Steve moved into product management where he was responsible for product development and overall P&L for AFL’s splicer and connectivity product lines. Steve was promoted to director of North American sales where he was instrumental in driving strategic revenue growth across the business.
Steve is a graduate of the State University of New York at Geneseo where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a minor in Computer Science. He also serves on the Advisory Board for AFL’s Community Outreach Program.
