Swindon, U.K. – AFL, is fast establishing a leading expertise in rural community FTTH projects, installing its latest rural project currently in the village of Hambleton in Rutland, UK for Gigaclear, a privately owned company dedicated to building and operating ultrafast broadband networks with fibre technology.
AFL designed and planned the optical fibre infrastructure network and is also providing fibre connectivity services from recently-acquired TCC Group to connect the infrastructure from the properties to a cabinet in the village. The network is an underground point-to-point solution using blown fibre technology and is designed to reach properties located in the village and outlying areas using the most cost-effective route.
Over 60% of the Rutland village is subscribed to Gigaclears 1Gbps capable network, which is scalable for all future subscriber numbers throughout the community.
“We see support for rural broadband as a natural extension of our core business in providing network capability in telecommunications, smart grids, low carbon initiatives and backhaul for business-to-business operations to power utilities, and for these utilities to earn revenue as a carriers' carrier,” remarked Steve Maederer, AFL Commercial Director.
Following the Ashby de la Launde rural community FTTH project last year, AFL has positioned itself as the leading supplier for rural FTTH projects.
Steve Maederer continued, “With the acquisition of TCC Group, AFL can now offer our customers unparalleled access to planning, support and installation techniques that reduce capital expenditures and deliver next generation access in much reduced implementation times.”
Acquired in May 2011, TCC Group is a leading telecommunications network implementation and integration provider based in Bracknell, United Kingdom. TCC Group joined AFL to provide communications services to the European market.
