Description

AFL's High Temperature Downhole cable was designed for oil& gas well applications greater than 150ºC.  The design incorporates a layer that greatly inhibits the permeation of hydrogen into the cable structure, thus extending the life of the optical fiber housed within the cable.  This unique design is unparalleled in the industry and provides a novel approach to the concerns with hydrogen.  Likewise, AFL's High Temperature Downhole cable can be customized with different alloys to meet your needs.

AFL's unique design for applications >150ºC is a three layer design with the secondary layer being 0.040" thick aluminum.  Literature indicates hydrogen permeability through aluminum is 100 times less than stainless steel resulting in an extended life for the optical fiber.  The all metal design eliminates concerns with polymers at elevated temperatures and provides for stable, predictable performance.
