Why apply for an AFL internship or co-op?? The experience! Take your education beyond the classroom and work with REAL industry professionals on REAL company projects. Our interns and co-ops develop invaluable skills that can only be taught in a work setting, and none of these skills involve coffee orders! Interns and co-ops are first and foremost associates of AFL and are given tasks and projects that are both challenging and appropriate for their level of education. You will work closely with coworkers on multiple projects and become an integral part of their team. And like any other AFL associate, you get paid!

University Co-op Program

AFL’s University Co-op Program allows engineering students to rotate between a semester of class and a semester of “on the job” learning. This three-semester commitment is a great opportunity for students to develop important business skills and exercise their education. Participants in AFL’s co-op program are assigned a series of projects help reduce operational costs, improve operational processes, discover innovative solutions to real issues and increase value for our customers. Co-ops will carry the responsibility for the projects and be guided by their mentors towards completion with each project having a meaningful impact on the company.

 

 

Internship Program

The AFL Internship program is for students looking for some real world experience while still going to class. This 12-15 week program is offered in spring, summer, and fall in either full or part-time capacities based on a student’s class schedule. The program prepares students for real company settings with leading business strategies, a diversity of projects and mentoring by industry professionals. Whether you are studying marketing or international trade, AFL’s internship program is a perfect way to get your resume to the top of the stack.

 

 

 

Who Do We Hire?

The majority of our co-op positions are in manufacturing facilities, and most of our co-ops are engineering majors. We offer internships in marketing, finance, international trade, human resources and other departments, and we also offer a limited number of co-op positions in these areas.

The competencies and skills that make a student successful in our intern/co-op programs are:

  • Communication - Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Organization - Effectively handles multiple tasks and projects
  • Detail Oriented - Analytical and logical approach to problem-solving
  • Accountability - Takes responsibility seriously and focuses on the goal
  • Initiative - A strong work ethic and enthusiasm for getting things done

Qualifications

  1. Must be a full time student at an accredited college or university
  2. Have at least a rising sophomore status
  3. Possess a minimum GPA of 2.75
  4. Successfully pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
