AFL Presents United Way of the Piedmont with $90K

In May 2011, AFL executive management and campaign ambassadors presented a check for $90,000 to Kathy Dunleavy, president and CEO of United Way of the Piedmont, and Monica Cothran, campaign director. AFL’s 2010-2011 United Way campaign in Spartanburg netted an increase of 33 percent in employee contributions and a 42 percent increase in company-wide contributions over the previous year. In addition, 2011 marks the largest increase in campaign contributions since AFL’s 2007 campaign.

AFL kicked off its campaign with a corporate contribution of $7,500. Goals were set and communicated and the campaign went into motion. As ambassadors were recruited internally and given the responsibility to inform and engage others within AFL, opportunities were presented to involve associates at various events, including an agency fair and carnival. These events were meant to keep everyone informed and educated about United Way, its services and the agencies it serves. To further enhance the campaign, AFL matched, dollar for dollar, all monies donated over last year’s employee contributions.
