Bill Dungan

Joining AFL in 2014, Bill Dungan serves as chief strategy officer, responsible for creating strategic direction for the company’s long-term growth, including organic initiatives, mergers and acquisitions and building sustainability of the business.

Prior to joining AFL, Bill served as senior vice president for Draka/Prysmian’s $4 billion global cable business. Located at Draka’s Amsterdam headquarters, Bill designed and directed the strategic initiatives for the company’s business development and mergers and acquisitions activity including global planning models. In addition, Bill helped design and implement specific growth and turnaround activity, which most recently included the return to profitability of the company’s market leading North American fiber optic cable business.

Bill also successfully helped analyze and negotiate the 2010 merger between Draka and Prysmian. In 2003, Bill received the Charles D. Scott Distinguished Career Award given by the members of the Wire Association for his outstanding contributions to the wire and cable industry.

Bill began his career in the wire and cable industry with Chester Cable Corporation where he quickly advanced to the position of vice president of sales and marketing. Bill also worked with Tensolite Company and Paige Electric Corporation, where he served as the vice president of sales and marketing and the vice president of electronics respectively. Soon after, Bill joined Draka, where he held several key executive leadership positions and led various business units spanning his 15-year career with the company.

Bill is a graduate of Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies. He also holds an Advanced Certificate in Business Strategy from Cornell University’s Johnson Graduate School of Management. Bill is currently a member of the American Chamber of Commerce and the McKinsey Strategy Forum.
