Carson Cato is chief supply officer (CSO) and member of the executive management team for AFL. Cato oversees several critical functions that drive supply chain strategy for the company. As CSO, Cato is responsible Global Supply Chain Strategy and driving synergies across the entirety of AFL, establishing strategic sourcing strategies and mitigating supply chain risks. He leads the company’s procurement, logistics, international trade and contract manufacturing efforts.

Carson comes to AFL after 24 years with CommScope, a leading telecommunications manufacturer and infrastructure provider, where he held various leadership positions including Senior Vice President/Mergers and Acquisitions, Senior Vice President/Global Supply Chain and Vice President/Global Procurement. He was a key executive member of CommScope’s Integration Management Office responsible for the successful integration and synergy capture following the acquisition of Tyco Connectivity’s Telecom, Enterprise and Wireless business.

Carson possesses a proven track record of increasing operational results. With extensive domestic and international experience, he is key in shaping the scope of supply chain management to realize future growth while staying focused on customer satisfaction.

Carson graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Chemical Engineering, has a MBA from Winthrop University and a Ph.D. in Business Management (Public Policy) from Walden University. He was an active member in his community in North Carolina prior to moving to South Carolina, volunteering with the Boys Scouts of America and was a founding member of the Adopt an Island program on Lake Norman, NC. Additionally, he was elected as Town Commissioner and Mayor of the Town of Cornelius from 2001 to 2003. He currently serves as AFL’s representative to the European American Chamber of Commerce.
