AFL Welcomes Nara as Chairman

Spartanburg, SC – AFL's parent company, Fujikura Ltd., has appointed Kenny Nara, as the new Chairman of AFL to succeed Masatoshi Kuroda, who is retiring as Chairman. Nara's tenure with Fujikura spans multiple roles, most recently as President of Fujikura Europe, Ltd.

Since joining Fujikura in 1975, Nara has worked primarily in international sales and exports. Many of his assignments were overseas and included Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Nashville, Tennessee. In 2002 Nara was named General Manager of Fujikura's export department in Japan. He was promoted to Associate Executive Officer and General Manager of the Plant Sales Department in 2007, responsible for domestic and international power and telecommunication cables and systems. Shortly thereafter Nara was elected President of Fujikura Europe Ltd.

Nara replaces Kuroda, who has served as AFL's chairman since 2005 when Fujikura assumed full ownership of AFL. Kuroda has compiled a distinguished 43-year career with Fujikura. In 1996, Kuroda became a member of the AFL Board of Directors. In 2001 he was appointed as a member of the Fujikura Board of Directors, managing Fujikura international marketing and sales for the telecommunications and energy businesses.

"At Fujikura, we are quite pleased with AFL's performance. The company has certainly prospered under Kuroda's leadership. I applaud the work that the entire AFL team has produced, and look forward to even more success for AFL in our core and emerging markets," said Nara, AFL's Chairman.

In conjunction with the appointment of a new Chairman for AFL, Jody Gallagher has been named an Executive Officer of Fujikura and will represent AFL on Fujikura's Executive Council. Gallagher will also continue his current role of President and CEO of AFL.
