Middle Tyger Community Center Receives $10,000 Fujikura Foundation Grant

3/23/2011

Spartanburg, SC – AFL is pleased to present the Middle Tyger Community Center (MTCC) with a $10,000 Fujikura Foundation Grant to assist family support services. The overall goal of MTCC Family Support Services is to promote family sufficiency through providing support while the family works to overcome obstacles.

Wanda Fowler, Executive Director of Middle Tyger Community Center, expressed her appreciation on behalf of the Board, Staff, and the families MTCC serves: "We greatly appreciate AFL's support and dedication over the years. It is because of donors like AFL that we can successfully continue to serve our community and maintain the level of service that we offer to children and families in need."

Programs and services that will benefit from this grant include crisis intervention, counseling, childcare, parenting classes, GED and ESOL classes as well as literary classes. MTCC also collaborates with other agencies to bring resources to the community such as ReGenesis, a healthcare clinic that operates on site at MTCC.

"On behalf of AFL and the Fujikura Foundation, we are pleased to support an organization like Middle Tyger Community Center and are excited about the future and the many lives that are going to be touched through this outreach," said Corie Culp, PR Manager for AFL.

The mission of MTCC is to create healthy families by developing solutions to the problems identified in our community and fostering collaboration among agencies, people who want to help, and those who need help. For more information on the Middle Tyger Community Center, visit www.middletyger.org.
