Burns Joins AFL as General Counsel

AFL, a leading provider of fiber optics and engineering expertise, today announced that Grant Burns has joined AFL as vice president and general counsel. Burns has over two decades of legal experience, with his primary focus being on first chair litigation, compliance, and labor and employment matters.

"As AFL continues to expand our reach globally, it is increasingly important to have leaders like Grant that drive results. We are confident Grant will help us achieve our business goals as his expertise will allow us to expand our internal capability," said Jody Gallagher, president and CEO.

At AFL, Burns is responsible for all legal matters, including corporate governance, intellectual property, human resources, litigation and securities compliance as well as government affairs. Burns joins AFL from Nexsen Pruet, LLC, where he was a member for 10 years. Prior to Nexsen Pruet, Burns was a shareholder with Ogletree Deakins.

"I'm excited to be a part of a very forward-thinking, talented and results-focused company. The leadership team is outstanding, and I am eager to contribute to AFL's success," added Burns.

Burns is a graduate of Clemson University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a Minor in Economics, and holds a Juris Doctor from the Washington and Lee University School of Law. A member of the South Carolina Bar and the Virginia State Bar, Burns has been admitted to practice in numerous federal district courts, appellate courts and the United States Supreme Court.
