3/23/2015

AFL Sponsors CEO BuildSpartanburg, SC – AFL, a leading global fiber optics manufacturer and service provider, is a sponsor of the Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County 2015 CEO Build. AFL’s president and CEO, Jody Gallagher, will volunteer with fellow CEOs from other top companies in the upstate to build a house for the Kilgore family in Taylors. AFL donated $5,000 to sponsor this year’s CEO Build.

“The idea is to bring together leaders in our community, particularly CEOs of major businesses and corporations, to build a home for a Habitat family,” said Dick Wilkerson, CEO Build Chairman for Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County. “Participation in Habitat Greenville’s CEO Build offers you the opportunity for direct involvement in changing the future for a Greenville family.”

The construction is expected to take three months. During this time volunteers from AFL and additional organizations will help complete the build.

“We are proud to help the Kilgore family build a house they can call a home,” commented Gallagher. “With the help of AFL’s Community Outreach Program, we are making that dream become a reality.”

Habitat for Humanity has been serving the Greenville community since 1985. Habitat Greenville is the only local nonprofit to offer interest-free loans for these families and is adamant that it is an initiative to change the cycle of generational poverty. To date, Habitat Greenville has been able to help 325 working families find a place to call home.

AFL has an extensive Community Outreach Program that provides grants, sponsorships, employee engagement projects, disaster relief and more. For additional information on AFL and its community initiatives, visit www.AFLglobal.com.
