AFL FOCIS WiFi2 Finalist for Lightwave Innovation Reviews

Lowell, MA and Spartanburg, SC – AFL’s FOCIS WiFi2 fiber optic connector inspection system has been selected as a 2018 Lightwave Innovation Reviews Finalist in the Field Test Equipment category. Presented annually by Lightwave, the Lightwave Innovation Reviews program distinguishes top products and solutions available within the optical networking industry as determined by a stellar panel of third-party judges. Judges include industry executives and analysts from a wide variety of service providers, technology developers, industry analysts and journalists.

"On behalf of the Lightwave Innovation Reviews, I would like to congratulate our finalists," said Lightwave Group Publisher Christine Shaw. "This competitive, unbiased program celebrates the most original and innovative products in the optical networking industry."

The FOCIS WiFi2 has a natural and ergonomic form factor similar to a screwdriver and uses WiFi to send streaming video images of fiber connector endfaces to a smart device where a mobile app auto-centers, auto-focuses and auto-analyzes the fiber core, cladding, adhesive and coating zones according to IEC, IPC and user rule sets. The iOS and Android mobile app also enables the emailing and texting of images and full PDF inspection reports.

The Innovation Reviews are judged based on originality, innovation, positive impact on the customer, how well it addresses a new or existing requirement, novelty of approach and cost-effectiveness. The highest scoring entry in each category will be declared as the winner on March 14, at OFC 2018 in San Diego, CA.
