Product Description

FLX380 / OFL280 FlexTester Complete2 Kits

FlexTester Complete2 kits provide all the test and inspection equipment needed by network technicians to verify, troubleshoot, and maintain both point-to-point and FTTx passive optical networks (PONs):

  • Installation Verification:  Inspect and clean optical connectors. Locate and measure splices, splitters, and connectors. Verify end-to-end length, insertion loss and optical return loss.
  • Maintenance Troubleshooting:  Identify in-service or out-of-service fibers. Locate the source of excess loss or reflections in optical networks. Inspect and clean contaminated or damaged connectors. Visually locate breaks or macrobends.
  • Patented ServiceSafe PON Testing (US patent 8,411,259):  Complete in- or out-of-service OTDR tests and PON power measurements from a single port!  Automatically detect and measure PON power levels. Prevent service-disrupting 1310/1550 nm OTDR test on in-service PON, while allowing out-of-band 1625 or 1650 nm live PON OTDR test.
  • Faster Loss Testing with Fewer Errors:  The FlexTester's Wave ID power meter synchronizes to wavelength(s) sent by a Wave ID source, eliminating wavelength setup errors and reducing optical loss test time by up to 80%!

Conveniently packaged in a rugged, waterproof, hard-shell carry case, FlexTester Complete2 kits include the following network verification and troubleshooting tools:

  • User-selected FLX380 FlexTester3 or OFL280 FlexTester – Handheld multi-wavelength OTDR with optional patented ServiceSafe™ live PON OTDR, integrated Wave ID optical light source, power meter, and Visual Fault Locator (VFL). Includes LinkMap upgrade with Pass/Fail and macro-bend detection.
  • 150 m Fiber Ring – Launch cable with user-selected connectors; Connects OTDR to network under test, enabling loss and reflectance of initial network connector to be assessed and included in Link Loss and ORL measurements.
  • FOCIS Flex Fiber Optic Connector Inspection System – Video connector inspection with IEC pass/fail analysis and UPC or APC adapters, plus selected cleaning supplies.
  • Optical Fiber Identifier – User-choice of OFI-200D, OFI-400, OFI-400C, OFI-400HP, OFI-BI or OFI-BIPM;  OFIs clamp onto buffered or jacketed fibers to non-intrusively determine if the fiber is carrying live traffic or a 2 kHz test tone (generated by FlexTester’s optical source). OFI-BI / BIPM work on all fiber types, including bend-insensitive fiber; BIPM includes integrated power meter.
  • TRM® 2.0 Advanced Test Results Manager – Windows compatible software to analyze uploaded results and prepare customized, professional reports including OTDR measurements, power meter results and connector inspection images. Supports bi-directional OTDR averaging, macro-bend detection, and file export.

FlexTesters support installation and maintenance testing for both FTTx PON and point-to-point optical networks at two or three wavelengths, depending on the model selected. Select the most appropriate FlexTester Complete2 Kit based on application, wavelength and dynamic range requirements.
