Employee Resource Groups

At AFL, we provide several employee resource groups to connect our associates together and celebrate individual cultures, backgrounds or interests, and embrace the unified culture of AFL.

AFL Young Professionals (AYP)*

AFL formed the AYP group to cultivate a sense of community among young professionals in the organization in an effort to boost associate job satisfaction, encourage collaboration in the workplace, and foster a learning-centric work environment. The AYP group organizes professional development opportunities, community outreach outings and social events all of which members of the group will be invited to participate.

*A young professional is an AFL associate in a professional role who identifies him/herself as being young in his/her career.

MERG

Military Employee Resource Group (MERG)

MERG focuses on three areas—recruiting transitioning service members, providing ongoing support for AFL’s current workforce and providing a forum for AFL’s veterans to collaborate in support of community service activities. AFL currently employs more than 100 veterans.

Active Living Team

AFL’s Active Living Team encourages activity as a part of healthy living. AFL associates interested in team sports, running groups and other activities are encouraged to meet periodically, and in some cases, compete in various events on behalf of AFL.

Women Connect Everywhere

Because AFL is a company that champions diversity, we want to celebrate women who choose to pursue careers in manufacturing and the difference they make to our workforce. WeConnect is a community group uniting women at AFL who aim to foster professional education, personal growth and enrichment opportunities via continuous learning, sharing, and networking. Our AFL WeConnect Community aspires to accomplish the following objectives to combat this reality:

  • Empower women with resources and information to positively impact their careers
  • Educate women to choose careers in manufacturing
  • Enrich AFL’s culture to support a diverse workforce
  • Encourage women to share perspectives, improve leadership and build networking/communication skills with peer groups
  • Enhance emotional intelligence levels throughout AFL – negotiation skills, handling conflict and navigating difficult conversations.
