AFL Celebrates Arbor Day with District 5 Intermediate Schools

Spartanburg, SC – AFL, a leading global fiber optic cable and accessories manufacturer, presented nearly 1,600 pine trees in celebration of Arbor Day in South Carolina. The gift of trees is part of AFL’s Thrive program, a commitment to being an environmental steward by recycling, reducing waste and planting trees. Students, teachers and staff of Beech Springs and Berry Shoals Intermediate were recipients of an evergreen seedling.

“AFL is committed to preserving our environment now and for future generations,” commented Corie Culp, community relations manager for AFL. “Demonstrating this commitment by providing trees is one way to make a difference. We hope to impress upon these students how important it is to take care of what we have now.”

AFL has provided more than 25,000 trees worldwide since the conservation program started approximately 15 years ago. AFL is ISO 14001 EMS certified, is an active participant with the PalmettoPride’s Prideway initiative, and consistently sets goals to conserve energy and reduce environmental impact.

AFL’s extensive Community Outreach Program provides grants, sponsorships, employee engagement projects, disaster relief and more. For additional information on AFL and its community initiatives, visit www.AFLglobal.com.
