AFL’s FOCIS Duel Honored with Two Awards at BICSI Winter

Lowell, MA and Spartanburg, SC – AFL’s newest product, the FOCIS Duel Fiber Inspection Tool, received top honors at the BICSI Winter Conference & Exhibition in the New Product Pavilion. Winning by attendee votes, the FOCIS Duel was the “Install Tools, Methods and Testing” category winner and overall Best in Show winner.

FOCIS Duel is the world’s first wireless handheld fiber inspection probe with two optical ports—one optimized for fast subjective “view-only” patch cord end-face inspection and the second port offering full support of AFL’s FOCIS Flex inspection system. FOCIS Duel features female “plug-in” connector adapters, which facilitate rapid end-face inspection operation. The LC adapters mechanically accommodate duplex LC connectors commonly used in data centers.

“We are thrilled to have received this honor from the BICSI community, as it acknowledges the outstanding value proposition FOCIS Duel brings to our customers,” said Maury Wood, Senior Product Line Manager for inspection products.  “This exciting new connector inspection probe holds the promise to significantly reduce end user fiber network operating costs.”

FOCIS Duel’s Bluetooth® transceiver works with AFL’s FOCIS app for iOS and Android smart devices. The FOCIS app provides connectivity to AFL’s aeRos® cloud-based workflow management platform and features other highly valuable capabilities. Operating features include UPC and APC adapters, auto-focus, auto-capture, auto-analysis to IEC and IPC rules, image saving, image/tabular data, pass/fail results transfer over Bluetooth, and PDF report generation.
