AFL Celebrates Arbor Day with Local Schools

Spartanburg, SC – AFL, a leading global fiber optic cable, equipment and accessories manufacturer headquartered in Duncan, SC, presented small pine trees to students and faculty of Beech Springs and Berry Shoals Intermediate schools in District 5 to celebrate Arbor Day. AFL donated nearly 1,500 trees as part of the Thrive Program, a program at AFL committed to preserving our environment through various conservation efforts including recycling, reducing waste and planting trees.

“AFL understands the importance of not just being socially responsible, but helping our communities to thrive,” commented Corie Culp, community relations manager for AFL. “Presenting these trees at local schools is an opportunity for AFL to set an example, and helps the future leaders of our communities see the importance of being socially responsible.”

AFL started its conservation program nearly 12 years ago, and has since provided more than 20,000 trees worldwide. As an ISO 14001 certified company, AFL began with a solid foundation of compliance and has expanded its efforts to not only manage environmental impact, but to reduce or eliminate them wherever possible.

AFL’s extensive Community Outreach Program provides grants, sponsorships, employee engagement projects, disaster relief and more. For additional information on AFL and its community initiatives, visit www.AFLglobal.com.
