AFL Introduces Multi-Fiber Identification System

Spartanburg, SC and Lowell, MA – AFL is launching the Multi-Fiber Identification System (MFIS), an easy-to-use, innovative product family that assures continuity in multi-fiber network build-outs and upgrades quickly, accurately and efficiently. Designed to address both the service provider and enterprise markets, the MFIS test system, with its embedded digital coding, Fiber ID, is used during and after multi-fiber network construction activities to give managers confidence and peace of mind with respect to fiber network documentation accuracy.

“With relentless user requirements for higher bandwidth and deeper fiber reach, multi-fiber network construction continuously expands and becomes more complicated,” commented Ye Rong, product manager for AFL’s Test and Inspection Division. “AFL’s MFIS test system is the first of its kind to deliver to network operators 100 percent confidence in their multi-fiber network continuity.”

The MFIS test system product portfolio includes a multi-fiber tracer unit, a multi-fiber identifier unit, and a multi-fiber power meter unit. Each unit is rugged, lightweight and easily operated with one hand. The MFIS system assures correct fiber labeling, end-to-end fiber continuity and flags excessive power losses on individual fibers.
