AFL Recognized by United Way of the Piedmont for Annual Campaign

Spartanburg, SC – AFL, a leading global fiber optic cable, accessories and equipment manufacturer, was recognized by United Way of the Piedmont with four awards for its annual corporate campaign. AFL received the top award for Employee Giving (for companies at $200K+) and set a record by giving back more than $287,000 to upstate communities. The number of associates who donated increased by nine percent while associate donations grew by 11 percent.

AFL was also a recipient of the United Way Campaign Creativity Award. This year’s United Way campaign theme was “Lights. Camera. Take Action.” Through various meetings, associates learned about Project Hope Foundation, an organization that supports autistic children, and the impact United Way has on their ability to serve the community. Associates were also educated about United Way’s Young Professionals and Women United programs.

“One of AFL’s core values is “Community Engagement,” and I think our associates represented that extremely well throughout this year’s campaign,” community relations manager Corie Culp said. “Our associates showed their willingness to help and worked hard to make a difference for the upstate community.”

AFL was also recognized for Outstanding Campaign Coordinator and Campaign Committee.

All AFL US locations, including South Carolina, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Washington, supported local United Way organizations and in total generated $325,000. Locations internationally also supported the annual campaign, donating to various local organizations chosen by associates, and increased the financial impact to $352,000+ worldwide.

AFL has an extensive Community Outreach Program that provides grants, sponsorships, associate engagement projects, disaster relief and more. For additional information on AFL and its community initiatives, visit www.AFLglobal.com.
