AFL Awards Hope Center for Children $10,000 Grant

Spartanburg, SC – AFL, an international manufacturer of fiber optic cable and connectivity, awarded a $10,000 grant to the Hope Center for Children (HCFC) to support family teachers with respite care. The grant will help build the PRN pool of support staff to benefit Faucette House, a Level 3 congregate care home, and ultimately provide respite care for family teachers.

“The kids in our care have more trauma and more significant outbursts, and providing loving, supportive care is a big job requiring an exceptional amount of emotional energy,” explained Kate Richardson, grants coordinator at the Hope Center for Children.
“Building a direct care pool of PRN staff will help Hope Center for Children provide relief on those hardest days so that every staff member is ready and fresh to meet whatever challenges come.”

Faucette House is the only Level 3 congregate care home in Spartanburg or Cherokee Counties for youth in DSS custody who have been removed from their home for allegations of abuse or neglect. Level 3 group homes provide the most intensive care before a Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) or hospitalization. Faucette House has 24/7 awake staff to provide care at any hour of the day, 365 days a year. While in HCFC's care, children are given a nurturing environment, trauma-informed care, medical care (including physical, behavioral, and therapeutic care), and school connections.

Hope Center for Children’s mission is to build healthy, stable families and protect children from abuse and neglect. HCFC does their best to protect and support children and teens in the Upstate by providing services and support whenever they need it.
