AFL's Greenhouse Gas Reduction Targets Validated by the Science Based Targets initiative

05/28/2026

SPARTANBURG, S.C. | May 28, 2026 | AFL, an industry-leading manufacturer of fiber optic cable, equipment, accessories and related services announced that its Scope 1, 2 and 3 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction targets have been independently validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The validation covers near term emissions reduction targets across both AFL's operations and its value chain.

The SBTi is the world's leading framework for corporate climate target setting, with more than 10,000 companies globally having achieved validated targets. SBTi validation confirms a company's emissions reduction goals are consistent with the level of decarbonization required to limit global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels, in line with the Paris Agreement.

“Earning SBTi validation is the result of years of groundwork to build a robust sustainability program and the systems behind credible, accurate emissions data," said Grant Burns, AFL Executive VP and General Counsel. “This recognition supports AFL’s position as a responsible supplier and a valued partner our customers can rely on as data centers and other sectors press forward on decarbonization."

This recognition strengthens AFL's ability to serve customers in the hyperscale, service provider, and energy sectors while reinforcing the company's commitment to the communities it serves and to responsible environmental stewardship.

The announcement builds on AFL's broader momentum on corporate responsibility, which includes continuous improvement in third-party sustainability assessments such as achieving a CDP Climate Change “B” Management score in 2025 and ongoing investments in renewable energy, operational resilience, and sustainable products and packaging across global operations.

AFL will continue to report progress against its validated targets and integrate science-based climate action into long-term strategy, product development and stakeholder collaboration.
