Mary Ellen Grom leads AFL’s internal and external strategic marketing communications efforts. She is responsible for defining and implementing a strategic marketing vision across AFL’s core markets, geographies and business units to drive awareness, relationships and reputation. This includes creating and executing an integrated marketing plan that encompasses branding, media, digital and experiential marketing.

Mary Ellen joined AFL in 2017 after 25 years in the IT channel distribution industry where she was most recently Vice President US Marketing at SYNNEX Corporation – a Fortune 200 technology distribution partner. Prior to that, she spent eight years at value-added distributor, ScanSource, Inc. and 10 years at Experience Engineering as Experience Director, leading strategic customer engagement initiatives with several leading retail, financial and hospitality clients.

Throughout her career journey, Mary Ellen has been recognized as one of CRN’s Most Powerful Women in the Channel 2012 – 2016. She was an active member of the board of directors and several tech communities for CompTIA, the world’s leading technology industry trade association.

A graduate of The Ohio State University, Mary Ellen holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications/Marketing, in addition to a Ducktorate Degree from Walt Disney World College in Orlando, Florida. She is an active diabetes advocate for the Upstate Carolinas chapter of JDRF, serving as the 2018-2019 Fund-A-Cure Chair. She also participates on the AFL Community Advisory Board.
